0845 dial back-up

Why do I need 0845 access back-up?

With Bulldog it is extremely unlikely that you will lose your broadband connection, but in the rare event that you do, or if you face an extended wait before being connected, our back-up service can be invaluable. It also offers a viable, low-cost* solution if you face a downtime period as part of the migration process from another provider.

All you need is an analogue dial-up modem as well as the standard voice service on your telephone line. You can then connect (via dial-up) to the Internet through Bulldog's 0845 back-up service until your ADSL service is up -and running again.

You can use the Bulldog dial-up service on the move and whilst your broadband connection is active, should you wish.

The minimum specification for your computer to run Bulldog's 0845 dial access back-up is:

  • Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 or iMAC/MAC OS X
  • You also require a dial-up modem.

As regards making any changes to your computer apart from adding a dial up connection, your outgoing email should be directed to IP address: 213.130.128.38 (Since the dial up service acts as a back-up to your existing broadband connection the out going mail server is different.)
